Introduction

Africa Instore Solutions Ltd (AIS) is a private limited company registered in 2013 in Kenya. We provide business development and support to SMEs through advisory and capacity development services. AIS has excellent footprint across the East African region and has worked with various development organizations and players in the private sector to equip business entrepreneurs, commercial social groups organizations with relevant enterprise development skills necessary to improve their economic outlook and for the communities at large. We work across various sub sectors with an emphasis in agricultural value chains.

AIS is finalizing a program engagement to support small holder farmers in Kenya with digital agricultural extension services which include tailored information on farming best practices, access to credit and other financial facilities. The objective of the program is to support Agribusiness ventures by enabling connected small holding farmers share information and transact. The project is proposed to run for a period of one (1) year commencing 1st May to 31st June 2010 after which it may be renewed for a subsequent two-year period. To complement the staffing for this program, we are hereby seeking qualified professionals to fill the following 4 positions. .

Project Manager – Agricultural Extension Services

The job holder will report directly to the project director. He/ She work closely and be responsible in managing relationships with farmers, community leaders and the county agricultural officers. The project manager will oversee all county level functions; budgets, hiring of field extension teams, organize training for his direct field team offer technical support and advisory services to farmers. He/ She will be responsible for implementing working guidelines and manuals; and coordination and preparation of project reports.

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • University degree in business studies
  • 5 years relevant experience
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and meet stipulated deadlines. Display professional demeanor with qualities such as strong work ethics, trustworthiness, and self-confidence. Strong influencing skills and consultative skills to bring efficiency and pro – activeness.
  • Experience in budgeting and project reporting
  • Possess cultural awareness and sensitivity. Excellent organizational, time and stress management skills
  • Ability to travel within Kenya on short notice

Project Coordinator – Agricultural Extension Services
(2 positions)

The job holder will report directly to the Project Manager. He/ She will be responsible in organizing and coordinating the project operations and activities. The project coordinator will work closely with the field team to ensure team roles, resources and reports are timely coordinated. He/she will assist the project manager in; hiring of field staff, developing training plan for staff team, developing the project budgets and targets. The project coordinator will ensure collection of all periodic field reports, analysis and submission of regular county project reports.

 

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Diploma in agriculture/plant sciences/business management or related fields 2-3 years relevant experience
  • Skills: Excellent communication skills, ability to work under pressure and meet stipulated deadlines. Project Accountant

The Accountant shall be responsible for executing financial related activities to support and not limited to the implementation of projects. The accountant will provide support in other finance areas as necessary and maintain a positive working relationship with all office and field staff.

He/ She will be responsible for creating project accounts, accountable for monitoring the progress of projects, investigating variances, approving expenses, and maintain project-related accounts in the accounting system. He/ She will ensure that the project billings are timely issued and payments collected. The accountant will prepare and submit relevant statutory reports and tax returns related to the project. In addition he/she will be responsible for internal and external auditors, as required. He/ She will assist the Project team in project analysis and reporting.

Project support: Assist in preparation of project budgets. Provide project financial reports and statements. Assist project managers in the financial management of projects

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Accounting /finance degree or equivalent.
  • CPA (K) ,
  • 3-5 years’ work experience in accounting. Computer literate with use of internet, excel and QuickBooks accounting software.
  • Skills: Strong quantitative and analytical skills with detailed knowledge of project based accounting methods
